On January 3rd, Congress returned to Washington and the Climate Action Campaign and partners were there to greet them.

CAC, a coalition of national environment and climate action groups, met new members of Congress on their way to work to call for more congressional climate action at the opening of the 118th Congress. Advocates from Moms Clean Air Force, the National Wildlife Federation, and Defend our Future spoke with Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ-03), Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA-07), and Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-IL-13) to make the case that climate action needs to continue to be a priority for the 118th Congress.

CAC introduced its 2023 “Climate Needs You” campaign with advocates and volunteers handing out welcome packets outlining suggested priorities for climate action that would implement strong pollution standards across federal agencies as well as meet President Biden’s commitment to cut climate pollution by 50 percent-52 percent by 2030.

The core of CAC’s activities build on the Inflation Reduction Act’s historic climate investments that could cut pollution by 40 percent by 2030. The 10 percent needed could happen if Congress sees environmental measures through.
