Dear Editor: The cities discussed by Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and four other Wisconsin mayors demonstrate that the catalysts and opportunities may originate in Washington, but the real action occurs in local governments, where there are multiple successful ways to address climate change and many fruitful ideas, and one size does not fit all.

I am proud to live in a city and state that have found creative ways to fulfill the promise of the Biden Administration’s clean energy plan. Wisconsin and its cities can be models for other states and cities to follow according to their priorities, resources and needs.

It’s encouraging that communities in a politically divided state like ours can implement a variety of energy-saving and green-energy strategies and rapidly reap the economic benefits of their efforts, with promise of more to come.
