Environmental injustices are found in communities of color and low income, where many work for minimum wage. Dispelling the lies about the minimum wage is important to be able to discover the truth that it is not a livable wage in the U.S.A.

MYTH: Raising the minimum wage will only benefit teens.
NOT TRUE: The typical minimum wage worker is not a high school student earning weekend pocket money. In fact, 88 percent of those who would benefit from a federal minimum wage increase are age 20 or older, and 55 percent are women.
MYTH: Increasing the minimum wage will cause people to lose their jobs.
NOT TRUE: A review of 64 studies on minimum wage increases found no discernible effect on employment. Additionally, more than 600 economists, seven of them Nobel Prize winners in economics, have signed on to a letter in support of raising the minimum wage to $10.10 by 2016.

ICE SHEETS WILL CONTINUE TO MELT
According to the Guardian, the melting of the Antarctic ice sheet will cause sea level rises of about two and a half metres around the world, even if the goals of the Paris agreement are met, research has shown. The new model reveals that the demise is likely to take place over a long period, beyond the end of this century, but is almost certain to be irreversible, because of the way in which the ice cap is likely to melt. ACTION AGAINST DRILLING
A group called the Elected Officials to Protect California wants the state to phase out all fossil fuels. Their first letter to Governor Brown had over 250 elected officials across the state signing. Brown did nothing. EOPCA is now demanding the same of Governor Newsom. Currently, they have 315 elected officials signing that letter. They have garnered the attention of Newsom and will meet with him.
